This year has been significant in terms of how I view digital art. At first, it was convenient because I could take my iPad anywhere and ‘draw’ or ‘paint’ without carting around art supplies. However, with some challenges this year, I also turned to art to help me take a break from the constant worries and disappointments. Art allowed me to switch off those parts of my brain that just refused to turn off so that I could have a break while developing art skills and easing my frame of mind.

The work will be honest, so if another inspires me, I will say so. It will come from photos I take of the world around me. As I develop my style, I will share my journey and lessons.

Current tools:

  • iPad
  • Apple pencil
  • Torrii body glass paper texture
  • iPad portfolio
  • iPhone – often for general images
  • Nikon F fc for detailed images
  • Procreate
  • Affinity Photo and Designer
  • The Beast 2 (son’s old gaming computer)
  • Design Cuts for courses and Procreate tools (brushes, stamps, palettes)

As I develop my skills, I am learning how to create my own brushes and stamps in Procreate so that I may eventually claim ‘all work is mine’.
