That is the question. But I have nothing against using AI responsibly. I don’t use AI to make my art…but may use it to create some seamless patterns down the track. Etsy now allows this as long as I have input into what the pattern is to look like – elements, colours etc. Since I already pay for Pro in Canva, I’ll use the app PatternedAI.
This page will contain all my patterns, curated into themes and series. There will be videos and notes on my art process. And, if I do use AI, I’ll be including that as well.
Let me begin…
Already I’m seeing some issues in terms of this being a rather massive amount of data. I want to include the artists who I buy elements and assets from as well, and I believe they may use AI. I also made a decision to ensure that I include their own licensing limits as well. So, if I buy a Wolf brush set (a true example) the license may be use for 250 000 uses (not true). This will mean I should include this in my license. It’s better to create all my own stuff but hey, there’s a lot of great illustrations to buy. And would my clients respect any of my licensing requirements with or without limitations I outline? I’d like to think so but you know, may not happen. I think perhaps links to individual patterns may be best, and I’ll make a template for consistency. Yeah! It’s a plan. I’ll make a start so stay tuned.
